The Històries e conquestes del realme d’Aragó e principat de Catalunya were compiled and put in order by knight Bagà Pere Tomic. They are one of the more outstanding texts of the historical chronicles of Catalonia and the Crown of Aragon from Wilfred the Hairy. They were written during the first half of the 15th century and finished in 1438. The Històries e conquestes not only are a historial memorial but also compile a compendium of historiographic legends which had a huge influence in the writting of medieval and modern chronicles. The inclusion of these legends is due to their historiographical importance, specially those linked to national shape about the origins of Catalonia. The Històries e conquestes are an accurate reflection of the political transition movement that took place in Catalonia during the 15th century. In that moment, nobility sees its till then hegemonic position teeter and urges on looking for elements of social difference with an important weapon: the lineage. Tomic provided the most powerful Catalan aristocracy with historic legitimation almost parallel to that of Barcelona counts, as it happened with the legend of the nine barons of the fame. He established a retaining way to the Trastamara monarchy’s increasing absolutist wish.
