The texts that make up this volume are a chronological revision of the history of the contemporary Catalonia, that is to say, a journey through the history, the politics and the culture of the country. A revision made from the most specific and deep-rooted in the country (with a great deal of irony and sarcasm) and arriving to the most general. Therefore, the texts of the philosopher Rodolf Llorens i Jordana (Vilafranca del Penedès, 1910-Caracas, 1985) are a reading and an interpretation made from the left and from the popular look. They are a reading and a reflection in which action and theory (the ideal and the reality) meet and co-evolve to be in the first firing line. Indeed, as he himself says in some moment, his reflection starts from the living and the will of living (that is the reason why he was a person fully involved with the political life of his time). And it is in this sense that he wants that we read his works knowing that he is a “simple passer-by of our history; not as a scholar, but as a reader”.
